Inform your smaXtec consultant upfront if you want to use the Internet connection via GSM (using the built-in SIM card) or via a local router.
If no mobile reception is available at your barn, the Internet connection will be established via Ethernet cable. In this case, the smaXtec Base Station will be connected to a local router.
Activation in the smaXtec Messenger: Navigate to „Boluses & Devices“ and activate the device using the serial number on the side label. Activating the device is necessary so the Base Station will be assigned you organisation and can be used properly.
1. Prepare the Internet connection. The Internet connection can be established via a local router (1a) or via the integrated SIM card (1b). If the built-in SIM card is used, the GSM antenna is necessary.
2. Prepare the power supply. Consider avoiding loop cables as they might lead to transmission problems. If possible, lead the cable from above to the Base Station. If no wall socket within 3 metres is available, we recommend installing the new power outlet on the left side of the smaXtec Base Station.
3. Status LEDs: The LEDs on the top left of the device will inform you about the proper functionality of the Base Station. The Power LED (on top) indicates, if the smaXtec Base Station is switched on. The Link LED (in the middle) shows the status of the Internet connection. The Data LED (bottom) indicates if data from smaXtec sensors is being read out.
To mount the Base Station, follow these steps:
Next, establish the power supply via the mains adapter. If you don’t use the GSM option, establish the Internet connection via Ethernet cable. For a dust- and waterproof use of the smaXtec Base Station, use an according smaXtec network cable (availbale in 5/10/20m length). The cable is not included but can be purchased at smaXtec or your local smaXtec dealer.
Verify the proper functionality by looking at the status LEDs. The connection can take up to 10 minutes. After successful installation, the Power LED and the Link LED should glow continuously in green. If this is not the case, please take a look at the user manual for more details.
